Our History

Eagle Paddlesports Club has been in existence for over 50 years and in 1998 became affiliated with the national governing body for paddlesports (Paddle UK). We changed our name in 2025 from Eagle Canoe Club to reflect the variety of paddling we provide. The club continues to grow, and the range of activities and events offered evolves annually following feedback from members and coaches.

There is a strong history at our site of enjoying the water, our site is the location of the Eagle Baths. The Eagle Baths were a series of baths for bathing and swimming. We take our name from the Eagle Baths which were previously at our site and continue the enjoyment of water which has been happening since 1880.

In 2009 the club gained Clubmark accreditation and in 2013 was awarded Top Club accreditation, the only national cross-sports quality accreditation scheme for clubs with junior sections. The accreditation is built around a set of core criteria, which ensure that accredited clubs operate to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted operating standards.
