Description

A trip for all canoeists, kayakers and paddleboarders happy with the distance of 11km (7 miles). When you sign up please let me know what sort of boat you'll be bringing?

We'll meet at the get-in at Woods End, Bramerton for 9.30, just here https://maps.app.goo.gl/7SnLXVBQC2ZX5oyUA Once we're all set up we'll shuttle as many cars as we can down to the get-out at Rockland St Mary broad, here https://maps.app.goo.gl/FS49ddgnvoTCofVT7

We'll aim to include an exploration of the beautiful Surlingham Broad, one of my favourite places on the Broads, as it's left to its own devices, with huge areas of reedbed, with narrow channels joining wider pools. We'll aim for lunch at the hard-to-find (unless you know where it is!) Surlingham Broad. After lunch we'll head back out into the reedbed, across the wider part of Surlingham Broad, along the Yare to Rockland Broad and to the staithe, where we'll get out.

Equipment needed : Your normal paddling kit: Boat, Paddle, Buoyancy Aid, Spray Deck, Kneelers for canoes, good footwear, etc. If you need to borrow club equipment please ensure that you take what you need on the previous Wednesday club night. Phone. Food and drink. Any medical kit you may need during the day. Waterproof containers, dry bags for spare clothes etc. Please make sure it fits in your boat.

Suitable clothing: water/wind proofs and spare clothing for the day. Check the forecast before heading out; the wind can cool you quickly when you stop for lunch or snacks. Don’t forget a sun hat and suntan lotion if it is going to be sunny.
